As a young University lecturer visiting the off the beaten track Pelion Peninsula in 2006 David fell in love with its culture & landscape, taking on a major project in renovating one of the old stone mansions characteristic of the region. After five years of careful work 'The Lotus Tree is now a unique guesthouse & base for others wanting to explore this area. David continued to travel extensively in Greece forming Warmpenguin in 2015 and moving to Athens to recruit a team of experienced professionals who now help uncover the embarrassment of riches Greece has to offer the traveler. Since 2015 WarmPenguin has continued its 100%+ growth year on year with the addition of new tours & activities & with a focus on Quality over Quantity.
Local knowledge & intimate on the ground contact is key to translating the best experience of Greece to our guests. To do this effectively we remain a small closely nit team based in the Athens at the hub of the counties business & transport center with the important day to day management & contact necessary. With our early work history in highly competitive & structured national & international organizations we translate a professional approach to our endeavors to ensure the highest quality in service
Hospitality & service sums it up. We focus on small private groups exclusively so there is never any conflict of interest. We approach each group as we would friends coming to visit & the best experiences we provide result because we enjoy them also. Focusing exclusively on private tours means we are most flexible for our guests needs & can tailor things to what any guest requires rather than having the limits & constraints of large and mixed groups. Without a mass market approach our guests remain exactly that & not numbers. This, along with a professional approach to what we do naturally lends itself to good service and continuing improvements to quality is added to this mix.
We depend on the sustainable natural beauty of Greece which draws visitors all year through its diversity of landscape, depth of culture & of course amazing history. We naturally visit the main sites of interest in Greece but recognize that they are most often set in areas of pristine natural beauty which add so much to the experience. In the many regions of Greece visited we actively partner with others who have sustainable practices and in many cases who are active in local environmental issues.
